These aren't your typical handcrafted ceramics.

Jack Cathro hand-throwing pottery on the wheel at Forest Home Pottery, showcasing the creativity and craftsmanship behind each ceramic piece.

Crafted from Titirangi clay and hand-selected fallen native wood, each piece tells a story of nature's strength and beauty.

Handcrafted ceramic teapot, featuring a natural kauri wooden handle, earthy textures, and a design inspired by the beauty of Titirangi’s surroundings.

About Jack

My journey began when I was invited by a colleague to take part in a joint art exhibition. Prior to this show I had been working with paint as my primary medium. Having recently moved to Titirangi I had an idea of using the clay from our property to create objects that explore ideas of ritual and home.

Little did I know that while making these initial homeware pieces, I was opening an exciting new chapter in my creative life.

I quickly fell in love with both a medium and the process and my subsequent creative output began to shift from paint to clay.

What carried through from this first experience was the ideas of home, and the desire to explore how we form connections with the objects that fill our spaces.

Fast forwarding to today I am still exploring these themes. I draw immense inspiration from our home in the forest and seek to work in harmony with the land.
